SAN ANTONIO — Fifth graders at Stone Oak Elementary School thought they were going to an assembly about discipline.
Instead, KENS 5's Audrey Castoreno showed up to honor a North East ISD teacher with the KENS 5 EXCEL Award and a check from our friends at Credit Human.
It took a while for the shock to wear off for fifth grade dual language science teacher, Rosa Carillo, who learned she was the NEISD EXCEL award winner.
This educator, who has been teaching for 25 years, is known for being a hands on teacher.
Her science labs are known to be engaging and fun. A word many of her students use to describe her.
"It's like really fun trying to do all that and then drawing you on your notebook," student Regina Cabeza said.
