ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgians can now apply for a state program to help keep their homes warm this winter.
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) appointments are now available for those 65 years old and over, as well as people who are medically homebound. Other eligible Georgia residents can schedule an appointment starting on Jan. 2, 2026.
In order to qualify for assistance, a family’s income must be less than or equal to 60 percent of the median income for a Georgia family.
All applicants must provide the following items:
Most recent heating bill or statement of service from their heating service
Social Security numbers for each person in the household
Proof of citizenship for each household member
Proof of income (check stub or a public assistance ver
