SPRINGFIELD — The World Affairs Council of Western Massachusetts will present a discussion on “The Future of Nuclear Weapons in a Perilous World.”
The program featuring political scientist Laura Reed will take place Dec. 16 from noon to 1 p.m. at 1350 Main St. in the 9th Floor Gallery.
Reed specializes in global security and U.S. foreign policy. Until 2022, she taught political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
She also served as secretary of the U.S. Pugwash Committee, when the international Pugwash organization received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005. The committee aims “to develop and support the use of scientific, evidence-based policymaking, focusing on areas where nuclear and WMD risks are present,” according to its website.
