TAWAS CITY – The intended 2026 budget for the Huron Shore Regional Utility Authority (HSRUA) has been proposed to the five municipalities that are a part of the joint venture.

The adoption of the budget is dependent on approval of same by all participating units of government, and then final authorization by the HSRUA Board.

As previously reported, treated water is supplied by HSRUA to Baldwin, AuSable and Oscoda townships, as well as Tawas City and the City of East Tawas. Each community pays a portion of the annual budget, which is based on their respective water usage amounts from the prior year.

For the overall budget, the proposed total operating revenue is expected to be $1,504,900; which is an increase of $181,000, compared to 2025.
