The site of a historic steel plant on a prominent location on Tyneside has been put up for sale. The former Davy Roll and Union Electric Steel plant is on the market after the company went into administration with the loss of 170 jobs.
Property agency Avison Young has been appointed to market the 10-acre site, which is on the corner of the old Gateshead flyover and the Felling bypass. The site includes a number of industrial and office buildings totalling 288,000 sq ft.
The agents say the site could benefit from other regeneration projects in the area, including a planned arena and conference centre nearby, though those plans have been stalled for a number of years. The site is being sold with full vacant p
