One person is dead and another was injured in an early morning shooting on Tuesday outside of a business in Freeland Borough.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers from the State Police Hazleton Barracks were notified around 2:30 a.m. of several gunshot victims being transported to a local medical facility.

Police said the shooting took place outside of a business in Freeland and that two people were struck by gunfire: a 15-year-old boy, who was struck in the leg and whose injuries appeared non-life-threatening, and an 18-year-old man, who was fatally struck and pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The names of the victims were not released at this time.

This incident appeared to be isolated, and no immediate threat to the public exists, officials said.
