PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) - This day in history was a dark one for Papillion.
On December 2, 1983, 12-year-old Christopher Walden disappeared.
His body was found a few miles outside of town, he had been abducted and stabbed to death.
John Joubert , an airman at Offutt Air Force Base, was eventually found guilty of Walden’s murder.
He was also found guilty of killing 13-year-old Danny Joe Eberle in Bellevue a few months earlier.
Joubert confessed to the boys’ murders and was sentenced to death.
Joubert was also linked to the killing of 11-year-old Richard Stetson in Maine in 1982, before he joined the Air Force.
Nebraska executed Joubert in the electric chair in 1996.
