Forecasters are warning of a possible “triple whammy” of risks for the dollar in the coming weeks that could worsen what’s already a seasonally weak period for the currency.

The greenback might be hurt by a possible U.S. Supreme Court ruling that tariffs are illegal and the potential selection of White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett as Federal Reserve chairman, according to Standard Bank. There’s also the prospect of a jump in the yen if Japan raises interest rates this month, the firm says.

Deutsche Bank AG also sees scope for a Japanese rate increase, as well as firmer economic data in other countries knocking the dollar during the year-end period.
