After one day of voting, and thousands of votes (you people really love cookies, eh?), we are already into the semi-finals of the Star’s Cookie Bracket, where readers weigh in on their favourite holiday cookie from some of the city’s top bakeries. I have been abstaining because, having tried all the contenders, they are all delicious and party-worthy.

Here is a quick recap. In the icing match-up, Mad Batter Bakers’ classic gingerbread faced Oishiii Sweets’ decorated sugar cookies. The sugar cookies move on, though Mad Batter’s gingerbread is soft and well-spiced.

In the old-school bracket, Mary Macleod’s Chocolate Crunch shortbread beat Bobbette & Belle’s Ginger Spice cookie. Ginger cookies may be less universally adored, but Bobbette & Belle’s is excellent. Still, Mary Macleod’s remains
