The parent company of Rubbermaid food containers and outdoor storage, Sharpie and Yankee Candle announced on Monday, Dec. 1 that it would lay off 900 people from its global workforce and close 20 candle stores across the U.S., making it the latest company to announce job cuts .
Yankee Candle has 12 stores across New Jersey, but it’s not immediately clear which of the 20 stores across the U.S. and Canada will be closed.
According to the Monday announcement by Yankee Candle owner Newell Brands, the closures will take effect in January 2026 and make up 10% of its workforce, primarily professional and clerical staff.
