ALLEN PARK -- Detroit Lions starting left guard Christian Mahogany was spotted working out to the side of Monday’s practice .

Mahogany has been out since suffering a broken bone in his left leg against the Minnesota Vikings in the first game after the bye week. The Lions initially said a late December return was on the table, hoping to get the guard back for the playoff push.

And after speaking with MLive in the locker room on Monday, the second-year guard seems confident in hitting or beating that target.

“Yeah, that’s the goal right now,” Mahogany said. “I mean, that’s what I’m hearing. You know, I’m trying to progress as quickly as possible while also being safe and keeping everything around it.

“Just keep going every day.”
