Vladimir Putin has given a chilling warning to Europe that if it "wants to fight a war, we are ready now".

The Russian leader has accused European leaders of “hindering” US proposals for an agreement over Ukraine and insisted they “do not have a peaceful agenda, they’re on the side of the war.” He has also accused Europe of amending peace proposals with “demands that are absolutely unacceptable to Russia ,” thus “blocking the entire peace process,” only to blame Russia for it.

It comes as the war in Ukraine is heading towards its fourth year and US special envoy Steve Witkoff is due to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow later today, taking an embryonic peace plan to the Kremlin.
