A persistent bear was in danger of electrocution after climbing to the top of a power pole in Cochise County, Arizona.
Werner J. Neubauer, a lineman, arrived on the scene to the perilous sight after receiving a call about the stranded animal.
“I de-energized the equipment and worked with a fiberglass stick to get her to climb down,” he said. “My wife Tina filmed the incident with my phone.”
The bear clung tightly to the pole, resisting Neubauer’s attempts to coax her off before finally making a safe descent.

In Sunnyvale, California, another animal found itself in a similar predicament — this time a house cat stuck high on a telephone pole.
Nick Csongor was looking for his missing orange cat, James, when he found him perched atop a telephone pole with no way to get down safely. When first responders from the Sunnyvale Fire Department arrived, they assessed the situation and hatched an unusual plan.
After cutting power to the pole, they invited Csongor to climb into the firetruck’s basket and rescue James himself to avoid spooking the cat.
