GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Two Greenville schools are on modified lockdowns after police say there was a nearby shooting this afternoon.

J.H. Rose High School and South Greenville Elementary School were put on the modified lockdowns just before 1:00 p.m., according to the school district.

A police department spokeswoman says there were reports of shots being fired on Shawnee Place, which is a couple of blocks from the high school.

Police have not said if anyone was injured in the shooting, but an ambulance with lights and siren left the area a short time ago.
