The heartbroken children of a loving family man who was killed when a car smashed into him told a judge of the devastating impact his loss has had on them.

Paul Brand suffered fatal injuries when he was trapped inside his car after Sahil Nagpal carried out a fatal overtaking manoeuvre as he drove across the North York Moors.

The 30-year-old’s black Hyundai i40 smashed into the father-of-two’s Hyundai Kona SUV near Scaling Dam Reservoir, as he tried to overtake a car on a dangerous stretch of the A171.

Mr Brand’s teenage son, George, read out his heartbreaking victim impact statement to Teesside Crown Court as Nagpal was sentenced for causing death by dangerous driving.
