On Tuesday morning, PennDOT District 4 announced reduced speed limits on several area roadways. This move was made due to the severity of the winter storm affecting much of Northeast Pennsylvania.

PennDOT urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, but for those who needed to drive somewhere, reduced speed limits of 45 miles per hour on the following highways were announced:

• Interstate 80 in Luzerne County.

• Interstate 81 in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Susquehanna Counties.

• Interstate 84 in Lackawanna, Pike, and Wayne Counties.

• Interstate 380 in Lackawanna and Wayne Counties.

In addition, PennDot announced Route 11 from Davis Street to Warner Street in Scranton is closed due to a downed utility. It is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
