SPRINGFIELD ( 25News Now ) - Some customers of Ameren Illinois in central and southern Illinois will receive credits on their upcoming power bills after a 10-year market manipulation investigation.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the settlement in August.
An Illinois Attorney General’s Office release said $33.5 million will be refunded to Ameren Illinois residential and small commercial customers who received Basic Generation Service or Real Time Pricing supply rates.
Complaints were first filed in 2015, arguing costs were unfair and unchecked.
Dynegy, which owned Ameren plants at the time, was able to set prices far above a competitive level, the AG’s office said.
