A 37-year-old Guelph man picked the wrong spot to pass out.
Guelph police said officers were called to an LCBO on Wellington Street West Monday after witnesses saw a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of an SUV in front of the store.
Officers spoke to him and noted a very strong odour of alcohol on his breath, police said, and a search of the vehicle revealed several empty and partially-filled alcohol containers.
The man was arrested and taken to the police station, where tests revealed he had more than three times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
The man is charged with impaired driving and failing to surrender proof of insurance. His licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He will appear in court Dec. 16.
