GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The man who allegedly killed his girlfriend in her Grand Rapids home before stealing her car and fleeing to New Mexico has been found competent to stand trial.
Court records show Randy Buckner, 47, was found competent in November.
He was charged with open murder and unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle in February after Grand Rapids Police found his girlfriend, Aleta Lung, dead in her home after she hadn’t been heard from in days.
Court documents obtained by 13 ON YOUR SIDE say when Grand Rapids Police discovered Lung’s body on Feb. 12, evidence suggested she was “beaten to death” in the living room of her apartment.
