LOVES PARK, Ill. — A local YMCA is set to expand its fitness center and extend its open hours.

The YMCA of Rock River Valley announced it launched a project to expand the fitness center at the Northeast Family YMCA, located at 8451 Orth Rd. in Loves Park. It will add 4,000 square feet of space and provide 24-hour access to members.

The Northeast Family YMCA, which opened in 2007, is taking over the space that used to be inhabited by UW Health physical therapy on the front of the building. Walls will be removed to connect the spaces.

New floors and additional equipment will be added, including a new EGYM Smart Circuit , a full-body workout machine that was said to help users complete full workouts in as little as 20 minutes.
