GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gaston County physical education teacher is facing charges related to an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student, records show.

Gaston County Police arrested Victoria Powell and charged her with two counts of indecent liberties with a child. Investigators allege the relationship happened while the student was under 16.

According to Gaston County Schools, Powell teachers at Hunter Huss High School. The district confirmed that Powell was suspended with pay on Nov. 14.

Powell was scheduled to make her first court appearance on Tuesday afternoon. She was being held without bond in the Gaston County jail.
