HMRC is set to put people on a register - with it MANDATORY from May 2026. There is just six months to go until a mandatory register for all tax advisers who ‘interact’ with HMRC kicks in.
Labour Party government Budget documents confirmed that the tax adviser interaction register will go live in May 2026, with a three-month transition period to sign up online via a new portal under development and penalties for non-compliance.
The government said it will be mandatory ‘for tax advisers who interact with HMRC on behalf of their clients to register with HMRC and meet minimum standards’.
