Coffee costs are climbing, and Boston consumers are feeling the pinch more than most.

In fact, they’re feeling it almost twice as much.

According to The Boston Globe , a pound of coffee in the city now costs $17.24 — nearly double the national average of $9.14.

Prices have jumped more than 36% since January, driven by tariffs, drought and supply chain disruptions.

For local cafes such as Newbury Street’s Thinking Cup, price hikes have become a recurring challenge.

“It’s tough,“ barista Emily Neily told The Boston Globe. “When we turn the screen around, and it’s $8 for one drink, it’s kind of insane,”

The surge comes even as the federal government moved to ease pressure on grocery bills.
