Danilo Gallinari is walking away from basketball as the longtime NBA veteran announced his retirement from basketball Tuesday. Gallinari last played in Puerto Rico, winning a title there , after spending 16 years in the NBA.

“Today, with a heart full of gratitude, I am announcing my retirement from the career I’ve always dreamed of,” Gallinari wrote on social media . “It’s been an incredible journey filled with countless memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”

Gallinari spent the 2022-23 season with the Celtics , though he didn’t play in a game as he rehabbed a torn left ACL. He signed a two-year deal with Boston in hopes of competing for a title. But he was sidelined for his lone season then was traded to the Wizards as p
