BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WAVE) – A Nelson County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a Bardstown man in a Fentanyl trafficking case that resulted in the death of one person.

The indictment, which was retuned on October 15, 2025, charges Phillip Wayne Young, 48, with trafficking in controlled substances (Fentanyl) 1st Degree, resulting in death.

A media release from Bardstown police said prosecutors allege in the indictment that Young, “transferred Fentanyl or a Fentanyl derivative resulting in the death of the victim.”

The indictment says the death happened on November 27, 2024 and identifies the victim as Ray Calbert. Al online obituary for Calvert says he was 47 years old.

Young is scheduled to be in Nelson Circuit Court on March 20, 2026 for a pretrial conference.
