The newly elected mayors of Montreal, Longueuil and Laval are pledging to work together to address shared challenges: mobility, housing and the homelessness crisis.

In a brief address before meeting for the first time at Montreal City Hall on Tuesday, the three mayors vowed to bring a collaborative approach to improving issues in the Greater Montreal area.

“Laval, Longueuil and Montreal represent more than 50 per cent of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, and we share the same issues,” said Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada, flanked by Laval’s Stéphane Boyer and Longueuil’s Catherine Fournier.

“And I’m sure we’ll be able to work in a very pragmatic, solution-oriented way,” she added.
