BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Severe Weather Emergency Shelter (BSWERS) is a volunteer, faith-based initiative that provides supplemental shelter during extreme winter weather. And they need volunteers!
You can sign up to be a volunteer at link to their volunteer sign-up sheet.
Wheeler Mission (single men), Friend’s Place (mostly women & LGBTQ+), and New Hope for Families are Bloomington’s primary year-round emergency shelters and will open for upcoming white flag nights too. Our community’s goal is to make sure everyone has a safe, warm place to stay, especially on these cold winter nights when injury or death from freezing temperatures is a real threat.
