RUSK, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott named Jonathan Richey, the current Cherokee County district attorney, as the next judge for the 369th District Court.
The 369th Judicial District serves Anderson, Cherokee, and Leon counties. Richey will serve a term that is set to expire Dec. 31, 2026 or until his successor is elected or qualified.
Richey, of Rusk, was the first assistant district attorney and as the assistant county attorney for Cherokee County before he became the DA.
Additionally, he's a member of the Texas District and County Attorney Association, Cherokee County Bar Association, and the Federalist Society.
