A North Plainfield soccer coach has been arrested after he kicked a 16-year-old player on the opposing team in Roselle, authorities announced Tuesday, Dec. 2.
During a soccer match between North Plainfield Soccer Elite and Elizabeth Youth Soccer at the Wariananco Sports Center on Sunday, Oct. 19, a player was involved in a play and fell to the ground near the sideline, Union County police said. Gustavo Rosas Pena then kicked the 16-year-old player from the Elizabeth team, police said.
Plata is charged with simple assault, police said.
