ALLEN PARK -- Terrion Arnold’s season-ending shoulder injury was a recurring issue that got to a point where the Detroit Lions had to shut the second-year cornerback down.

He has been placed on injured reserve and his season is over, with five games remaining. NFL Network reports Arnold will undergo shoulder surgery sometime this week.

Arnold missed two games earlier this season due to a shoulder injury. At the time, it was a back-and-forth with how serious it was, with a positive second opinion clearing the way for his quick return.

Dan Campbell said the issue didn’t go away and that it was bothering Arnold during the Thanksgiving loss to the Green Bay Packers. The second-year cornerback missed two games before returning last week due to a concussion, as well.
