SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A woman was severely injured early December 1st on 42nd Street, prompting a swift response from Lane County Sheriff’s deputies and Springfield Police.
According to authorities, Anthony Leon Vancil, 39, of Drain, assaulted the woman, beginning at Hayden Bridge Boat Landing before continuing in his vehicle. She managed to escape and find safety in a local business.
Law enforcement searched for Vancil's vehicle throughout the day. He later arrived at the Lane County Parole & Probation Office in Eugene, where he was detained.
Vancil is facing multiple charges, including second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree kidnapping, coercion, and violation of a restraining order. His sentence for an unrelated methamphetamine charge also began upon his booking
