A Chautauqua County man scored big in the New York Lottery, claiming a $1 million Powerball second prize for matching the first five numbers in the Aug. 27 drawing, lottery officials announced.

William Lasher of Lakewood opted for a one-time lump sum payment totaling $651,000 after required withholdings, according to officials.

The winning ticket was purchased at Crosby’s, located at 5 East Fairmount Ave. in Lakewood.

Lakewood is 60 miles southwest of Buffalo.

The winning numbers were: 09, 12, 22, 41, 61 and Powerball 25.

New York’s Powerball game generated $327,836,044 in total sales during fiscal year 2024-2025, while school districts across the five boroughs received $1,427,185,199 in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
