LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The long-awaited return to action for Kansas freshman phenom Darryn Peterson is still on hold.
On Tuesday, Kansas head coach Bill Self released a statement, announcing that Peterson would not play against No. 5 UConn as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury that has lingered throughout his freshman season.
“Darryn is not going to play tonight,” Self shared in a statement from KU. “He is very close. He has worked his butt off, but he is still not 100 percent. He is day-to-day.”
Peterson hasn’t played since a Nov. 7 loss to North Carolina. Without him, the Jayhawks are 5-1 and have a 6-2 record on the season, including a 3-0 string of games in the Players Era Festival last week in Las Vegas.
