Christmas is a peak period for travel, and the influx of passengers coupled with the number of Christmas presents stuffed into luggage can lead to delays at airport security.

In light of this, Ryanair has issued guidance on how to pack presents , including a stern warning against wrapping gifts before placing them in your suitcase. If you're planning a festive getaway and need to organise your presents, it might be wise to follow the budget airline's advice and refrain from wrapping them beforehand.

"Don't spend hours intricately wrapping gifts to carry in your hand luggage. Wrapped gifts may be opened, searched and screened by airport security staff," Ryanair said in a blog post.
