LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - The Nebraska Supreme Court heard arguments Tuesday over an executive order prohibiting remote work issued by Gov. Jim Pillen.
The order was issued in 2023. The Nebraska Association of Public Employees (NAPE) quickly filed a demand, saying the state needed to bargain the specifics of the policy change.
NAPE filed a petition with the Commission of Industrial Relations, but the commission sided with the state , saying the state had no obligation to bargain with the union and ordered the union to pay more than $42,000 in attorneys’ fees.
The decision was appealed to the Nebraska Supreme Court where they heard arguments Tuesday. NAPE attorney Richard Griffin addressed the state’s declining to negotiate.
