LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - Disabled veterans in Nebraska can look forward to saving money next year.
A new law taking effect Jan. 1 allows them to receive an exemption from vehicle taxes and fees on one vehicle.

Veterans must apply to the Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs to receive the benefit.
Veterans need to request the exemption before their plates are up for renewal. For newly purchased vehicles, they need to apply within 30 days of purchase.
