ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The Publix at the Shallowford Exchange in Chamblee will close permanently on Dec. 27, according to the company.
The location closes on the same day as the Publix in Atlantic Station . Both stores are small by Publix’s standards — the Atlantic Station location is around 30,000 square feet, while the Chamblee location is less than 29,000 square feet. In comparison, most Publix locations are almost 48,000 square feet.
This location is off Shallowford Road near I-85 in DeKalb County.
Publix did not give a reason for the closures. Representatives said shuttering the Atlantic Station location was a “difficult decision” and noted that there are five other Publix stores within two miles of the Chamblee location.
