Monroe Public Schools released a letter to the community Tuesday, Dec. 2, following a number of on-the-road incidents involving school district vehicles.
According to Superintendent Andrew Shaw, three different incidents occurred Tuesday morning. First, a school bus was stopped on Kelly Road because a train had halted at the railroad crossing. A van from the district was sent out to help the bus turn around so it could resume its route.
The second incident also happened at a railroad crossing but on Laplaisance Road. The bus stopped at the crossing, but the vehicle behind it was unable to stop because of snow. The vehicle rear-ended the bus and 911 was called. However, the bus wasn't damaged.
