BENNINGTON — For the seventeenth year in a row, The Vermont Veterans’ Home received its Christmas Tree from Marine Veteran Don Keelan’s property in Arlington. The tree, a 15-foot balsam, was delivered along with the traditional honorary escort from several Troopers with the Vermont State Police.
“It’s an honor to be able to deliver a tree to the veterans,” said Keelan. “Their service means so much to all of us. It’s our way, my wife and I, of thanking them. The country celebrates Veterans’ Day once a year, but they celebrate it here every day. We’re glad to be a small part of that.”
The balsam was cut down Monday morning at Keelan’s Arlington property and escorted by several Troopers down to the gazebo at the Vermont Veterans’ Home, where it will soon be decorated for all to enjoy this h
