ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — It’s been 10 days since nearly 80 players were suspended after an on-field, benches-clearing brawl between Gainesville and Brunswick.
After a back-and-forth week, the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) announced on Monday that Gainesville is playing Friday and can field all its players.
In an exclusive interview with Atlanta News First, Gainesville City Schools Director of Athletics Adam Lindsey said four Red Elephants will not play in the quarterfinals against Langston Hughes.
“We have made the decision internally that there were some players that did not live up to the standard that we have set for them so we will be holding them out,” Lindsey said.
