SMITHFIELD, Va. — Health care access in Isle of Wight County is taking a major step forward.
Riverside Smithfield Hospital is preparing to open its doors early next year, and medical officials say they are ready and provide specialty care to rural patients.
The hospital sits on Benn’s Grant Boulevard in Smithfield and will serve thousands of families who have spent years traveling 30 minutes or more to reach the nearest emergency room or specialty provider.
“It’s a huge day, and we’re incredibly grateful for the Riverside team and members,” said Hospital President Jessica Macalino. “This has been many years in the making. We’re incredibly proud to show it off.”
