LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Texas Tech and Joey McGuire have reached an agreement on a new seven-year, Texas Tech Athletics confirmed with KCBD.

Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, who was first to report the new deal, said it includes several incentive bonuses and averages close to $7 million per year.

McGuire has led No. 5 Texas Tech to an 11-1 record and its first Big 12 Championship game appearance, set for Saturday morning against BYU in Arlington.

Tonight, Texas Tech will find out if it will move into the top four in the College Football Playoff rankings after No. 3 Texas A&M lost to Texas.

The CFP rankings will be released at 6 p.m. tonight on ESPN.
