A Metuchen High School health and physical education teacher who also coaches the varsity softball team has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing $2,683.50 from the district.
Michelle L. Huff, 36, of Green Brook was charged with third-degree theft on Nov. 11, according to a criminal complaint.
Huff deposited a paper check from the board of education into a PNC bank account in February and then made a mobile deposit of the same check again in the fall, an affidavit of probable cause said.
Investigators reviewed subpoenaed bank records before charging her.
Huff is on leave, Superintendent Vincent Caputo said in an email. He declined to comment further.
Neither Huff nor her attorney could immediately be reached Tuesday.
