BURLINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - Burlington Public Works deployed all 11 snow plows Tuesday as the season’s first major winter storm blanketed much of Litchfield County and beyond, putting the town’s snow removal operations to the test.
The department has been clearing snow and laying salt on the town’s 95 miles of roads since about 9 a.m. when snow began falling. Burlington sits near the southern tip of the highest snow totals in the region.
About 20 miles north in Norfolk, the town experienced some of the highest snow totals in the state. Norfolk began treating roads Monday ahead of the storm, but conditions remained challenging throughout the area.
