Alex Bregman is a free agent, and the Red Sox are reportedly trying to re-sign him. Bregman was a huge part of the team, and would be a great player for Boston to keep around.

Along with Bregman in the infield, the Red Sox have Trevor Story and two young players in Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell. Triston Casas is expected to return as the team’s first baseman.

When it’s taken into account that Ceddanne Rafaela also slots in as an infielder at times, the Red Sox have a surplus of talent in the infield. However, players like Campbell and Mayer are still relatively unproven at the big league level. Could the Red Sox consider signing a marquee infielder?
