New Orleans Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson has suffered a right adductor injury and will miss an extended period of time, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday .
Williamson, who is in his sixth season with the team, will be re-evaluated in three weeks, according to Charania. It’s unclear when Williamson suffered the injury.
The Duke product missed Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, and was originally labeled questionable for Tuesday night’s home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s now clear that Williamson will be off the court for a significant period of time for the Pelicans, who fired coach Willie Green on Nov. 15 following a 2-10 start to the season. With a 3-18 overall mark, the team is 1-9 under interim coach James Borrego.
