NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The North Charleston Police Department has arrested a youth after they found a gun in his vehicle.
The youth, whose name has not been released because of their age, is charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun, providing false information to police and driving without a license, according to jail records.
Officers spotted a vehicle in the Pepperhill Park parking lot just before 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 26, which was closed at the time. When the car began to leave the parking lot, officers conducted a traffic stop after they suspected a smell of marijuana coming from inside.
When they approached the vehicle, they asked the driver to step out so they could search. During the search, they found a gun underneath the driver’s seat.
