A new interim commissioner has been appointed in Guadalupe County.

At the Dec. 2 Guadalupe County Commissioners Court meeting, Jim Wolverton was appointed interim commissioner for Precinct 3.
According to a county news release, Wolverton will be stepping in for Michael Carpenter , who stepped down to pursue the county judge position.
Wolverton was Precinct 3’s commissioner for over 20 years before retiring in December 2020. He will serve as interim commissioner through 2026, until the results of the next general election for the position.
According to the Guadalupe County Elections Office, a primary election for the position will be held March 3, followed by a November general election. The county judge has the authority to appoint an interim and fill a vacant seat unt
