When a movie director yells "action!" somewhere in Providence, it's a safe bet that Sergeant Michael Martinous isn't far away.
Since 2006, Martinous has been the liaison between the police department and the film and television industry, accumulating nearly 20 years of stories to tell about how movies get made in Rhode Island's capital, including how a wayward squirrel briefly brought production of one movie to a halt; an admittedly "fanboy" chat about "Star Wars" with director J.J. Abrams; and how a shift change at Rhode Island Hospital moved production of one movie into a weekend.
