A child is dead and several others are injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash near Hernshaw.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office a child was ejected from a vehicle and several others were unresponsive in the crash, which was reported to Metro 911 at about 4:55 p.m. Tuesday.
It's unclear if the child was a boy or girl, and its age is unknown at this time.
The crash, which occurred in the 2000 block of Lens Creek Road near Hernshaw, involved an SUV and a utility vehicle, according to J.W. Burns with the KCSO. One vehicle was on its side, smoking, Burns said.
Lens Creek Road is currently shut down to allow emergency personnel to respond to the crash.
